Press Statement :  UNBS seizes sub-standard Agricultural Inputs.

April 11th, 2017, Kampala Uganda. UNBS has an obligation to protect the health and safety of the public against harmful imported and locally made products. This is achieved through formulation, implementation and enforcement of Standards.

On the 15th November 2016, UNBS undertook an inspection at Panyahululu CO.LTD during which samples of hoes (B. Cock brand), Machetes (jewel brand) and shovels were obtained for laboratory analysis to determine compliance to the relevant standards.

Upon receipt of the laboratory test results, it was established that the samples of items did not meet the requirements of the relevant standard.

Seized Consignment;

On the 5th April 2017, a total of 7256 cartons of hoes ( B.Cock Brand ), 180 cartons of pangas and 81 cartons of machetes of Jewel Brand all imported from China were confined at the premises of the importer on Mulwana Road, Industrial Area under UNBS seal to halt any further sale and distribution of these products.

UNBS ACTION;

UNBS therefore informs the public to desist from buying the aforementioned brands of agricultural inputs supplied by Panyahululu Co. ltd.
