The Uganda National Bureau of standard (UNBS) on 10th February 2016 took home a prestigious award of the best Government Agency of the Year at the just concluded 6th private sector development awards held at Royale Suits, Kampala
The awards are organized by Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) to recognize the best performing Business Associations, Corporate Companies and Government Agencies that are playing a critical role in the development of the Private Sector in Uganda.
Under the Government Agency of the Year category, UNBS emerged the winner beating 45 government agencies. UNBS close competitors were Uganda Investment Authority and Uganda Registrations Services Bureau.
The award was received by the UNBS Executive Director Dr. Ben Manyindo. While receiving the award, the ED congratulated UNBS stuff and urged them to keep up the good work of facilitating the business community in growing their business through implementing standards.
The following were the winners:
Association of the Year:
Best: Uganda Insurers Association (UIA)
First Runner-up: Association of Tour Operators (AUTO)
Second Runner-up: Uganda Crane Creameries Cooperative Union (UCCCU)
Business Champion for Young Children:
Best: Standard Chartered Bank and Century Bottling Company Ltd
First Runner-up: Airtel Uganda
Rural Association of the Year:
Best: National Association of Coffee Agribusiness and Enterprises Ltd
First Runner-up: Adyaka Rural Youth Development Association
Second Runner-up: Hope Development Initiative Cooperative Society
Government Agency of the Year:
Best: Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS)
First Runner-up: Uganda Investment Authority (UIA)
Second Runner-up: Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)
