Mr. Martin Imalingat was appointed Manager, Quality Assurance Department in January 2013. In his current role, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the UNBS certification services and market surveillance activities. Leading a team of professionals, Martin ensures that certification services offered to our clients meet the highest standards of quality and value. Martin also works to provide leadership in the development and implementation of innovative services aimed at supporting SMEs in the implementation of standards to improve product/service safety and quality and have their products/services certified.
Prior to this appointment, Martin has held several leadership positions since joining UNBS in 2001. He worked as Head of Product Certification Section from 2005 to 2007 during which time he led a successful effort to put in place a system of procedures for managing the product certification system and simplify the application process that led to 400% increase in the number of certified products. From 2007 to 2009, he successfully led the UNBS surveillance activities as Head of the Surveillance Division.
Martin also brings in a wealth of experience from a regional perspective to his new assignment, having been responsible for coordinating all regional (EAC/COMESA/SADC) standardization activities at UNBS. In this role he provided leadership in coordinating Uganda’s participation in SQMT related regional meetings, development of national positions through stakeholder consultations prior to the meetings, and the implementation of decisions arising from these meetings, including those from the EAC Council of Ministers that relate to SQMT issues.
Martin holds an MSc in Engineering and is currently pursuing the Herriot Watt, Edinburg Business School distance learning MBA program at MAT.
